The East Providence High School baseball team upped its most recent win streak to three after the Townies outlasted host Woonsocket 11-5 in a wild Division II outing played Tuesday, May 7. EP dropped to 2-11 in the league with the loss.

The sides exchanged runs in the first inning before the host Villa Novans plated four in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-1 lead. The Townies, however, answered in a big way in the top of the fifth, scoring nine times to regain a 10-5 edge. EP tacked on another run for good measure in the seventh. The locals improved to 9-3 in the league standings at the time.

Tim Robitaille was the winning pitcher, going six innings for the Townies. He allowed five runs, though only two were earned. The junior right-hander walked a pair and struck out five. Classmate Dylan Annicelli threw a perfect seventh inning, striking out the side.

The EP defense was charged with three errors. Woonsocket doubled that total with six.

Offensively, freshman Aidan Martin's superb debut season for the Townies continued last Tuesday. He had two hits, walked once and scored four times.

Colin Roche drove in two and had a pair of hits as did Oliver Andrews. Jayden Healey and Robitaille also each had two RBI.

(Updated, May 10, 9 a.m.) Late the prior week, the Townies suffered a 2-1 setback to host Tiverton Saturday, May 4. All of the runs were scored in the first inning. EP dipped to 8-3 in the league with the loss.

Dicecco was the hard-luck loser on the hill for the locals, allowing just three hits and one earned run over 5-2/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked five. EP's only run came after Martins reached on error to lead off the game. He moved to second after Kyler Lorenz drew a walk and later scored on Nolan Lorenz's sacrifice fly.

Softball
The EPHS softball squad dropped a see-saw affair against visiting Smithfield, falling to the Sentinels by a 13-9 count Tuesday, May 7, in a Division I contest.

The Sentinels were quick out of the gate, scoring twice in the top of the first. The Townies answered with five of their own in the bottom of the frame to take the lead.

Smithfield went back on top with a four spot in the second, but EP agains answered with a pair in the bottom of the frame to got back out in front 7-6.

The Sentinels retook the lead by adding on five more runs in the firth. The Townies had a response, but scored just two to still trail 11-9. Smithfield added a pair of insurance tallies in the seventh.

Trinity Provencher had three of the Townies' 12 hits. She also scored twice. Marianna Pina drove in three on two hits. Shelby Quinn had two RBI on a pair of hits as did Emma Boisseau, who also scored two times. Audrey Bernard had a hit, a RBI and scored a pair of runs. 

Girls' lacrosse
The EPHS girls' lacrosse club dipped below .500 in the Division II standings following a 15-9 loss to Narragansett Tuesday, May 7. The Townies fell to 4-5 in the league.

The East Providence Girls Lacrosse Team was defeated by Narragansett High School 15-9. The girls who scored are as follows.

Kenna Wigginton paced the EPHS offense with four goals. Kloey Iacavone had a hat-trick. Katherine Almeida and Alyssa Karalekas chipped in a goal apiece. Keeper Ava Williams was credited with seven saves.
